The Loxford School Trust is an Academy Trust developed from Loxford School of Science and Technology. The Trustees have been selected to represent the interests of local communities and act as guardians of the educational aims of the Trust. Loxford School Trust Governance Profiles

CEO, THE LOXFORD SCHOOL TRUST

ANITA JOHNSON OBE

Anita Johnson started her teaching career in 1987 at Stoke Newington School after she qualified as PE teacher from Bishop Otter College. She then moved after three years to Sedgehill School in Lewisham, a large multi-cultural school as a PE teacher and soon rose through the ranks by becoming firstly, Head of Girls PE and then the overall Curriculum Leader of PE. During her time there the school gained Sports Mark Gold and was named by Tony Blair as one of the three best schools for sport in the country.

 

Anita remained at Sedgehill School for twelve years and eventually moved to Upbury Art College in Gillingham, Medway.  She joined the school as an Assistant Headteacher in charge of Standards at Key Stage 4.  This school was in special measures at the time and within six months had been moved out of this category.  Anita remained here for three and a half years and helped move the school’s GCSE results out of the underperformance category.

 

Anita then moved to Harris Peckham Academy as the Vice-Principal.  The Peckham Academy was one of the first schools to become an Academy and Anita was one of the founding members of this.  Her position was Standards and Delivery across the whole school including attainment, achievement, attendance, curriculum, timetabling and behaviour.  The school’s results rose over the four years and Anita took over as the Acting Principal for a term during the illness of the Principal.

 

Anita began her own Headship in January 2008 at Loxford School which is a thriving multicultural school and has maintained its outstanding position. The results at GCSE have improved steadily as have the A Level results.

 

The Ofsted Report described Anita as “the driving force behind the school’s success. Her clear vision and high ambitions for pupils and staff are supported by a highly effective Senior Team and a well-led and challenging Governing Body.”

 

Anita’s educational philosophy is based around traditional standards of education and a ‘Stage not Age’ approach to achievement and attainment.

 

Anita is The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Loxford School Trust which currently consists of seven schools – Loxford School, The Warren School, Tabor Academy, Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College, Aldborough Primary School, Gaynes School and CECIL JONES ACADEMY; She is also the Headteacher of Loxford All-Through School.

 

Anita is married with two children, lives in Kent and her greatest pastimes are netball and shopping.

 

Anita was awarded the OBE for Services to Education in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2020.

DAVID LOW

I am a retired Primary School Head Teacher; My career having brought me east via Hackney and Plaistow to teach in three local Boroughs. I am the Chairman of The Loxford School Trust and a National Leader of Governance.

 

My daughter had a very successful academic experience at Loxford School before leaving for continuing education.

 

I have sought to develop the role of Governor into making a significant impact through being reliable, accessible, both challenging and supportive of the work of the professional staff, keeping abreast of relevant issues and trying to ensure The Loxford School Trust remains determined to realise the highest aspirations of the students and their parents.

MICHAEL MCINTYRE

Cert Mgmt (Open) a local business man for many years in Ilford and parts of East London.  Michael completed his post graduate Professional Certificate in Management with the Open University at Regents Business School just around the corner from the University of Westminster, the awarder of his HNC in Business.  Michael has worked in various large corporations here in the United Kingdom and in Southern Africa.  Working for such employers as, for example, Associated British Foods, The Dee Corporation and Kirsh Industries of South Africa.  Michael’s employment thus far has mainly centred on Operations.

 

Loxford School is Michael’s second post as an Academy Committee Member, joining the Loxford School in 2011, Mike says he is “honoured to be the Chair of the Curriculum Committee” a position he took up on the 5th of July 2012 and that he “looks forward to more opportunities to support this Outstanding School under our Head Teacher Mrs Johnson, the Senior Leadership Team, the Chair and Academy Committee Members”.

 

Socially Michael enjoys dining out with friends and good company, and like very many at Loxford he also enjoys a good read, particularly specific Shakespeare such as Julius Caesar, Henry the IV, also such authors as Robert Pirsig (philosophy) and Henry Mintzberg (management).

 

Michael enjoys running in the local park at weekends.

Amy Loveng is The Chief Finance Officer for The Loxford School Trust.

A qualified accountant Amy has 12 years post qualification experience across both public and private sectors and she has specialised in education for the past 10 years

HELEN RAYFIELD

Helen is a freelance bid consultant and has worked across local and central government in a wide range of sectors, including education.

Her expertise includes grant funding, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, safeguarding and governance. She holds an MBA from the Open University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

FIONA MEEKS

Fiona Meeks is a doctoral researcher currently examining networks, regional innovation and economic development at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.

Prior to her studies, Fiona spent 20 years delivering CYPS programs in the London Boroughs of Hackney & Islington. In her spare time, Fiona works as a freelance consultant for Catch impact, an organisation which supports charities to develop robust impact measurement frameworks using Theory of change models. Fiona is passionate about sharing her knowledge, skills, and experience in the areas of youth participation, project management, good governance and risk management, community engagement, impact measurement and research design.

HAZIS KRASNIQI

I was born in Kosovo in 1995. My family moved to England in late 2000. Having started at my local rugby club as a youth, I am now the director and head coach for the club. I also visit local schools within the area and with, City, University of London.

Stephanie is an experienced public affairs and policy specialist who has worked in government and the private sector. She has worked across a number of different policy areas including: renewable energy, financial services regulation, health and education. MANKAMAL SINGH PALRAY

Being a former Loxford School pupil myself and raised in an extended family who also attended the school, I am delighted and honoured to join the Loxford School Trust Board.

My recent roles have involved leading transformation, restructure and change within Finance departments. I have worked across a breadth of organisations and sectors, starting my career in Price Waterhouse Coopers and now working for The Prince’s Trust.

I have been a trustee for a number of charities in the past and worked within steering committees set up by the Mayor of London’s Office to deliver large scale community events. I was a governor in a local primary school for several years and also played a lead role in a successful free-school application bid to the Department for Education some years ago.

“I look forward to working within a strong team of education leaders who have a clear vision and appreciation of excellence, as can clearly be seen by the growth of the Trust over the past decade."

YUNIS ASLAM

I am a Civil Service Manager working for UK Export Finance as well as an Owner / Director of a Freight Forwarding business. I am a Founding and Executive Member or a local Scouts Group for whom I am also the Explorer Unit Leader regularly working with children aged 14-18; however, occasionally assist with the younger groups ranging from 5 through to 13. I understand the dynamics involved in providing a platform for children to achieve their full potential not just in their educational achievements but preparing them for the world of work. I believe that this puts me in a good position to provide support to the Trustee/Directors Board.

I have worked in Local Government for over 10 years in a number roles, which include Education Welfare and Social Care. I currently work for a London Borough as a Commissioning Manager for children, young people and families.

My primary focus is commissioning services for the most vulnerable children and young people in the community and children in care. I also have a particular interest in children and young people’s rights and I am a member of the Care Leavers’ Association.

I was elected as Parent Governor at Aldborough Primary School in March 2016. My son attended the School and my daughter is a pupil. Becoming an Academy Committee Member has provided me with the opportunity to play an active role in supporting the school in achieving the best possible educational and social outcomes for the children.

HEADTEACHER – ALDBOROUGH PRIMARY SCHOOL

ABU TOKI

I have worked in primary schools across various boroughs in London. My first senior leadership role was in 2017, in a inner London school. I then joined The Loxford Trust in 2019 as an Assistant Headteacher. Following this, in 2022, I was appointed as Deputy Headteacher across both Loxford and Aldborough Primary School, with a specific focus on Quality of Education.

I am now the Headteacher of Aldborough Primary School- a role which I feel privileged to have. This role allows me to build resilient pupils who become life long learners.

I have been a committee member at Aldborough Primary for about 5 years and have recently been appointed to Chair.  I have lived in Redbridge for 28 years.
I am a Key Account Director at a security company and well versed in security and H&S impacts on any business and property.

I have had 3 children attend Aldborough, 2 of whom are now in secondary school and 1 still at Aldborough Primary. My aim is to ensure that our children get the best education, that the staff are supported in achieving the best potential within all the children, and also make them feel safe and secure.

I am a senior manager within a large London NHS Trust. Prior to the NHS I worked within the Health and Social Care sector supporting both adults and young people. I am an effective leader who has the ability to build relationships on a multidisciplinary level. I am a mother of 3 daughters and 1 son, who all attend Aldborough Primary School.  

From the time when my eldest, who is now 11 years of age, started school I have been fascinated by how the school teaching together with the environment has a positive impact. In particular, the way it has been designed and refined to teach as well as stimulate a child from the very start. 

After spending many years as a full-time mother, I am hoping to work within a school organisation as a teaching assistant, as this is where my interest lies. Previously I worked within administrative roles for different organisations, including a fostering agency where I was team administrator. 

I will appreciate and value the chance to experience the role of Parent Governor, as I feel this role will give myself a better understanding of how Aldborough Primary School functions and the current issues being worked on.

NICOLA JETHWA

I have been teaching for 23 years and trained as an English Teacher.  I have been a part of Senior Leadership since 2003 and have been a Deputy Head in both Newham and Barking and Dagenham. I feel very privileged to have been appointed as the Headteacher at Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College and have been the substantive Head since October 2016.

The role of Headteacher allows me to support our students in becoming resilient adults who enjoy the challenge of learning and who will be able to take their place in our society.

PHILLIP CABLE

I am 51 and married with 5 children and lives in Ware in Hertfordshire.  He was born in Barking and attended St Edwards School in Romford and his connection with Abbs Cross stems from the fact that his late mother attended the school back in the late 1950’s

He is the Chief Executive Officer and co founder of a Company called MAST a global risk management and security business that supports a wide range of clients operating both in the UK at sea in the marine market and in other complex environments around the world.

 

Phil’s early career was as a marine broker in the Lloyds of London Insurance market which led to him to return to education and graduate in Law following which he commenced training as a Solicitor. 

Phil was then commissioned into the Royal Navy where he served for six years as a Warfare Officer before returning to the Private Sector.  He then completed a Master’s Degree in Maritime Law before founding MAST in 2005. 

Phil enjoys coaching and playing football, is involved in Amateur Dramatics and loves the outdoors.   He has a strong belief in giving each child a tailored education to suit their abilities and talents.

I have three children, two of whom attend a local Primary School and one who attends Abbs Cross Academy. I am an Assistant Headteacher at a Secondary Academy in East London and teach English. I have worked with children for 19 years as a nursery nurse and social worker. For 3 years+ I have worked for Cafcass in private family law and as a consultant Family Court Advisor, I am seen as the child expert within the court arena. RICHARD MICEK

I have worked in secondary schools within Essex, Southend and London for over 26 years, with over 19 of these in Senior Leader positions. In 2014, I was delighted to be appointed as the substantive Headteacher of The Warren School, part of The Loxford School Trust, this allowed me to continue to drive forward changes to improve the life chances of so many magnificent students.

In January 2019, I was proud to be appointed as an Executive Headteacher within The Loxford School Trust and in April 2019, when Cecil Jones Academy in Southend joined The Loxford School Trust, became its new substantive Headteacher.

Tabitha Pascoe has a wealth of commercial experience spanning over 20 years. She has a background in HR and Training and has spent the last decade coaching women in leadership business and relationships. 

Nearly 3 years ago Tabitha co founded a social enterprise supporting children’s mental health through various initiatives including youth leadership programmes and reading workshops in schools. 

Tabitha has a daughter in year 9 and wants to support Cecil Jones in any way she can to help continue the great work the current headmaster has achieved so far. She also wants to gain further understanding of the school system.

I am a mum to two daughters. My eldest daughter is currently in year 9 at Cecil Jones and my youngest has started year 7 this academic year.

Over the past two years, I have watched my once extremely shy daughter, who hated reading, blossom into the most confident and hard working girl. She has read more books than we ever thought possible and even enjoys it! Although I like to take some of the credit for this, I really believe that the support and encouragement she receives from the school and her teachers has helped to make this happen.

I have worked within education for the past 4 years at schools in Southend-on-Sea and live in the local area. I attended Cecil Jones as a student before beginning to work there from September 2021. Throughout my time, I have progressed to Head of Geography and now lead a team that deliver lessons which are dynamic, forward thinking and focus on a number of local, national and international issues. 

After Cecil Jones Academy secured its 'Good' rating by Ofsted in September 2023, I am committed to help shape conversations on the implementation of strategies for improvement. It's absolutely vital to me and something I hold quite dear that our students must get the very best out of their educational experience here. 

In my spare time, I love to travel and immerse myself in different cultures around the world - something I love imparting on our students. It's fantastic to be able to instil a sense of wonder and awe about the world around us with our students to broaden their horizons.

CEO & HEADTECHER, LOXFORD SCHOOL 

ANITA JOHNSON OBE

Anita Johnson started her teaching career in 1987 at Stoke Newington School after she qualified as PE teacher from Bishop Otter College. She then moved after three years to Sedgehill School in Lewisham, a large multi-cultural school as a PE teacher and soon rose through the ranks by becoming firstly, Head of Girls PE and then the overall Curriculum Leader of PE. During her time there the school gained Sports Mark Gold and was named by Tony Blair as one of the three best schools for sport in the country.

 

Anita remained at Sedgehill School for twelve years and eventually moved to Upbury Art College in Gillingham, Medway.  She joined the school as an Assistant Headteacher in charge of Standards at Key Stage 4.  This school was in special measures at the time and within six months had been moved out of this category.  Anita remained here for three and a half years and helped move the school’s GCSE results out of the underperformance category.

 

Anita then moved to Harris Peckham Academy as the Vice-Principal.  The Peckham Academy was one of the first schools to become an Academy and Anita was one of the founding members of this.  Her position was Standards and Delivery across the whole school including attainment, achievement, attendance, curriculum, timetabling and behaviour.  The school’s results rose over the four years and Anita took over as the Acting Principal for a term during the illness of the Principal.

 

Anita began her own Headship in January 2008 at Loxford School which is a thriving multicultural school and has maintained its outstanding position. The results at GCSE have improved steadily as have the A Level results.

 

The Ofsted Report described Anita as “the driving force behind the school’s success. Her clear vision and high ambitions for pupils and staff are supported by a highly effective Senior Team and a well-led and challenging Governing Body.”

 

Anita’s educational philosophy is based around traditional standards of education and a ‘Stage not Age’ approach to achievement and attainment.

 

Anita is The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Loxford School Trust which currently consists of seven schools – Loxford School, The Warren School, Tabor Academy, Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College, Aldborough Primary School, Gaynes School and CECIL JONES ACADEMY; She is also the Headteacher of Loxford All-Through School.

 

Anita is married with two children, lives in Kent and her greatest pastimes are netball and shopping.

As a former bank manager, it’s equipped me with capable skills and experience that I believe will be of benefit to the committee and the Co-opted member role. Cert Mgmt (Open) a local business man for many years in Ilford and parts of East London.  Michael completed his post graduate Professional Certificate in Management with the Open University at Regents Business School just around the corner from the University of Westminster, the awarder of his HNC in Business.  Michael has worked in various large corporations here in the United Kingdom and in Southern Africa.  Working for such employers as, for example, Associated British Foods, The Dee Corporation and Kirsh Industries of South Africa.  Michael’s employment thus far has mainly centred on Operations.

Loxford School is Michael’s second post as an Academy Committee Member, joining the Loxford School in 2011, Mike says he is “honoured to be the Chair of the Curriculum Committee” a position he took up on the 5th of July 2012 and that he “looks forward to more opportunities to support this Outstanding School under our Head Teacher Mrs Johnson, the Senior Leadership Team, the Chair and Academy Committee Members”.

Socially Michael enjoys dining out with friends and good company, and like very many at Loxford he also enjoys a good read, particularly specific Shakespeare such as Julius Caesar, Henry the IV, also such authors as Robert Pirsig (philosophy) and Henry Mintzberg (management).

HEADTEACHERS – TABOR ACADEMY

KELLYANN BROWN & GREGORY FORSTER

 

KELLYANN BROWN:

I have been working for 15 years as a lead English teacher. I have worked in Newham, Redbridge, Havering and Essex in a variety of roles in leading teaching and learning.

I feel very privileged to be part of the Loxford School Trust and I am delighted to be given the opportunity as Headteacher and look forward to leading the school on its new journey to excellence.

 

GREGORY FORSTER:

I have been teaching for 12 Years, of which the last 6 years have been as part of the senior leadership team. I started my teaching career at Loxford in 2012 and have been working within the trust since as a middle leader and assistant headteacher at Loxford followed by deputy at Tabor for 2 years. 

I am excited to have the opportunity to work as a headteacher within the trust and look forward to the exciting future the school has ahead.

 

CHAIR – TABOR ACADEMY

MATT GILES

I studied at the old Tabor High School some years ago, and my 3 children now attend Tabor Academy.

I run my own construction business locally, (although we operate nationwide) and have done so now for a number of years.

I am a senior instructor at a local martial arts club, and I coach a local grass-roots football team.

I believe I am able to make a valuable contribution to the Academy Committee.

EMMA HOWSON

I am married with two children; my oldest daughter currently attends Tabor Academy and my other daughter is at primary school. I am also an ex Tabor pupil.

I have been a Civil servant for the last 22 years working for the Crown Prosecution Service and in my current role of District Crown Prosecutor I am responsible for managing a team of lawyers who complete Crown Court work.

I have just become an Academy Committee Member and I am looking forward to working with and supporting the school in any way I can.

I enjoy walking my dogs, baking, running and spending time with my family.

Helen Game

I joined the governing body as I have children who currently attend the school - one in Year 10 and one in Year 7. I am an experienced educator, having worked as a teacher and leader for the last 18 years. I have held the position of Designated Safeguarding Lead for the past 2 years. My experience as Deputy Headteacher and Acting Headteacher within primary education will give me an insight into governing boards and using appropriate challenges to drive forward positive change.

KAREN COLLOP

I started at Tabor Academy in 2007 within the administration team and was promoted to Exams Officer shortly after. 

I found that I enjoyed working alongside the young people, and took up a pastoral role here in 2011.  I am currently the Year Care Team Leader for Y9, with an additional responsibility of Mental Health lead which I find incredibly rewarding. 

I am honoured to be part of the Tabor community; supporting and watching students become the best that they can be.

HEADTEACHER – THE WARREN SCHOOL

JENNIFER ASHE

I have been teaching for 17 years; This included working in Tower Hamlets and Barking and Dagenham. I joined The Warren School in 2012 and have been privileged to assist in its journey of improvement where my experiences as an English Teacher and as a member of Senior Leadership have reinforced my belief that education is the driving force for social change.

I am thrilled to be appointed to the post of Headteacher within The Loxford School Trust and look forward to leading the school further in its drive for excellence.

 

CO-OPTED COMMITTEE MEMBER – THE WARREN SCHOOL

LISA WARREN

I have been a foster carer for 11 years for a local borough. Caring for looked after children has led me to work closely with various schools and the virtual school regarding the children’s education, health and wellbeing.

I have a strong attachment to The Warren School because my whole family have been educated their including myself, 3 of my children and 2 of my foster children.

I am lucky to have seen the schools great progress over the years not only in the standard of education but in the new buildings and improvements that have been made to the school.

I am the safeguarding academy committee member for The Warren School. Safeguarding has a particularly important place in my heart due to the nature of work I do as a foster carer. I believe every child has the right to a safe and happy life and I am committed to working closely with the school for the safeguarding of every student.

I have a certificate in safeguarding, and I am adult learner studying to become a children’s counsellor.

TASNEEM SIDDIQUI

I am an entrepreneur representing Homes4Hope, that provides independent living to mental health patients in Havering, Barking and Dagenham. Currently the Trustee and Treasurer of Chadwell Heath Community Centre, working independently has given me the flexibility to apply my skills to contribute towards the community.

I am also the Chairwoman of Anaya, a community Interest Group aimed at helping local women socialize.

I am passionate about contributing towards our community and believe that my skills and experience will be of great value. I am very enthusiastic and offer my commitment and responsibility towards the school to make a greater impact.

Fahmida Wajahat

I am a mother of two young children, one attending The Warren Primary and one in the Secondary School. I am working in Dominos as a Customer Service Representative. I worked in a private college in my country for a short period of time.  I have always liked to be part of education in any way. Loxford School Trust is doing its best for children's welfare. These pupils are our future generation so we should all put all our efforts into making their future better.

AISHA AFZAL

I am a Mother to three wonderful children and a practising Medical Clinician for the past 17 years.  I see both these roles in the greatest amount of respect and importance. 

In the words of Grace Lee Boggs " You cannot change any society, unless you take responsibility for it, unless you see yourself as belonging to it and responsible for changing it."  This statement is core to what I stand for.

ACADEMY COMMITTEE MEMBER (Support Staff) – THE WARREN SCHOOL

Ajay Patel

An experienced Facilities and Project Manager, with over 19 years' experience within this field, both in the public and private sector. With a wealth of experience in developing schools and commercial buildings, to maximise their full potential.

I joined the Loxford School Trust at The Warren School as Facilities Manager, with the sole purpose, to develop and enhance the learning environment for the students and staff combined. I’ve been privileged to first hand be a part of the school’s improvement process, taking it from a school which required a vast amount of attention, improvement and care, to the outstanding establishment it is today. Now providing a safe, modern and suitable school for all students and staff. I have designed, planned and managed many large projects; recently, creation of a new bespoke 6th Form study centre, creation of a new entrance to the 1st floor Science block, an extension to the library complete with outside garden, a new quiet garden within the original inner quad and currently; an extension to the dining hall.

I’m delighted to be appointed as a support staff governor and am looking forward to continuing to be part of the school’s growth and improvement.

ASHRAF UDDIN MBE

As an experienced teacher at The Warren School for 22 years, I have held various positions from being a form tutor, Trade Union Representative, Head of Year to Director of Learning Phases. My experience and positions affords me the opportunity to build relationships with all staff in a large school and thus would help me to contribute positively to The Warren School Academy Committee.  My enthusiasm and commitment to gather feedback from colleagues as well as my own understanding of the staff experience puts me in a good position to contribute to the development and wellbeing of our school community.
