Shoebox Appeal

(News from Abbs Cross Academy)

img_0268Students at Abbs Cross have this term been collecting items to place in to shoeboxes to send off to a charity organisation called Samaritans Purse. They collect items to send off to provide a Christmas present to children who may not receive any.

Once we heard Mrs Moore was organising the Shoebox appeal we instantly wanted to get involved and volunteer to help to pack the shoeboxes and organise them ready to take to the collection centre. We thought this was a fantastic opportunity to give to people who are not as fortunate as us.

We spent our lunchtimes along with Jack Harman and Annie Counihan in Year 10  helping check all items in the boxes were age appropriate and that they also had the £3.00 it costs to send each shoebox. At the end of the week we had managed to collect 41 shoeboxes that were then sent off for this wonderful cause.

We are hoping to be able to run the Shoebox appeal again next year and hope to be able to beat the amount we sent this year. Thank you to everyone who donated and donated to the Shoebox appeal.
