Governor Profiles

I am proud to be the Headteacher at Aldborough Primary School. I feel honoured to be part of such a vibrant and diverse community and really enjoy developing the potential of all the children in our care. I continue to enjoy developing my knowledge and skills to ensure the best for every child in our school and am also learning British Sign Language. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and their families; I believe that every child is unique with their own talents and strengths and with the right guidance, support and encouragement I know all our children can achieve at the highest level.

Mr Peter Ballard

I am retired from the Engineering Department of telecommunications company BT after 34 years service. Staring as an apprentice I progressed to become a Senior Manager.

Married with two daughters who both attended Loxford School. I became a governor at Loxford in 1989 and have never left. Having served as Loxford School Trust Chairman for 4 years I have now stood down to serve as Vice Chairman of the Trustee Directors Board. I continue to serve on the Loxford School Local Board as Chairman.

I also sit on the London Borough of Redbridge School Admission Appeals Panel and The Exclusion Appeal Panel.”

Mr David Low

I am a retired, primary Head teacher, my career having brought me east via Hackney and Plaistow to teach in three local Boroughs. I am the Chairman of the Trust and a National Leader of Governance.  My daughter had a very successful academic experience at Loxford School before leaving for continuing education.  I have sought to develop the role of governor into making a significant impact through being reliable, accessible, both challenging and supportive of the work of the professional staff, keeping abreast of relevant issues and trying to ensure the Trust remains determined to realise the highest aspirations of the students and their parents.

Mr Michael McIntyre

Cert Mgmt (Open) a local business man for many years in Ilford and parts of East London.  Michael completed his post graduate Professional Certificate in Management with the Open University at Regents Business School just around the corner from the University of Westminster, the awarder of his HNC in Business.  Michael has worked in various large corporations here in the United Kingdom and in Southern Africa.  Working for such employers as, for example, Associated British Foods, The Dee Corporation and Kirsh Industries of South Africa.  Michael’s employment thus far has mainly centred on Operations.

Loxford School is Michael’s second post as a School Governor, joining the Loxford School in 2011, Mike says he is “honoured to be the Chair of the Curriculum Committee” a position he took up on the 5th of July 2012 and that he “looks forward to more opportunities to support this Outstanding School under our Head Teacher Mrs Johnson, the Senior Leadership Team, the Chair and Governors”.

Socially Michael enjoys dining out with friends and good company, and like very many at Loxford he also enjoys a good read, particularly specific Shakespeare such as Julius Caesar, Henry the IV, also such authors as Robert Pirsig (philosophy) and Henry Mintzberg (management).  Michael enjoys running in the local park at weekends.

Mrs Anita Johnson

Anita Johnson started her teaching career in 1987 at Stoke Newington School after she qualified as PE teacher from Bishop Otter College.

She then moved after three years to Sedgehill School in Lewisham, a large multi-cultural school as a PE teacher and soon rose through the ranks by becoming firstly, Head of Girls PE and then the overall Curriculum Leader of PE.

During her time here the school gained Sports Mark Gold and was named by Tony Blair as one of the three best schools for sport in the country.

Anita remained at Sedgehill School for twelve years and eventually moved to Upbury Art College in Gillingham, Medway.  She joined the school as an Assistant Headteacher in charge of Standards at Key Stage 4.  This school was in special measures at the time and within six months had been moved out of this category.  Anita remained here for three and a half years and helped move the school’s GCSE results out of the underperformance category.

Anita then moved to Harris Peckham Academy as the Vice-Principal.  The Peckham Academy was one of the first schools to become an Academy and Anita was one of the founding members of this.  Her position was Standard and Delivery across the whole school including attainment, achievement, attendance, curriculum, timetabling and behaviour.  The school’s results rose over the four years and Anita took over as the Acting Principal for a term during the illness of the Principal.

Anita began her own Headship in January 2008 at Loxford School of Science and Technology.  This is a thriving multicultural school which has maintained its outstanding position over the last four years. The results at GCSE have improved steadily as have the A Level results.

The Ofsted Report described Anita as “the driving force behind the school’s success. Her clear vision and high ambitions for pupils and staff are supported by a highly effective senior team and a well-led and challenging governing body.”

Anita’s educational philosophy is based around traditional standards of education and a ‘Stage not Age’ approach to achievement and attainment.

Anita is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Loxford School Trust which currently consists of six schools – Loxford School, The Warren School, Tabor Academy, Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College, Aldborough Primary School, Gaynes School and the Headteacher of Loxford All-Through School.

Anita is married with two children, lives in Kent, and her greatest pastimes are netball and shopping.

Having worked in schools in inner city London and Essex for over twenty years, I joined Gaynes School in September 2018, having worked for the Loxford School Trust as headteacher at Tabor Academy since 2015. My experiences have taught me the extent to which education can change students’ horizons; I strongly believe in ensuring our students are well grounded in traditional values such as good behaviour, respect and discipline and develop the skills which will enable them to be successful in an ever changing world. It is an exciting time to have joined Gaynes School and I look forward to leading the school at this point on its journey.

After graduating I trained to be a teacher through the Teach First programme at Aldborough Primary School, where I am now Team Leader of Year 5, as well as Subject Leader of Art and Design.

Mr Paul Randall

“With two of my children already at The Warren and a third due to start I wanted to be involved in supporting the school to improve itself when it was really struggling to find its way.  So when the opportunity to become a Parent Governor presented itself back in 2013 I jumped at the chance.

Since joining I have become chair for Warrens governing body the link governor for SEND and appointed to finance board of directors for the Loxford trust.

I want to see the school continue to improve and work with them to ensure that the outcome for the children is the best that it can possibly be.”

I was delighted to be appointed as the substantive Headteacher of new The Warren School, part of The Loxford Trust, in August 2014, because it allowed me to continue to drive forward changes required to improve the life chances of so many magnificent students.

I firmly believe that if children are given the appropriate structures, environment and resources, they will develop the necessary skills and attributes required to contribute as independent citizens who are keen and able to be leaders in society.

Mr Yasin Patel

I have worked in Local Government for over 10 years in a number roles, which include Education Welfare and Social Care. I have grown up in Redbridge and with my son starting school in September 2016 I’m glad to be given the opportunity to be a Parent Governor to support the school in maintaining its high standards and to meet future challenges.

I have been teaching for 17 years, 11 of them on Senior Leadership teams. During my career, I worked in Redbridge, barking and Hertfordshire before joining The Loxford School Trust as a Deputy Headteacher in Tabor School in 2015. I was delighted to be appointed as the Interim Headteacher of Tabor Academy, part of The Loxford Trust, in September 2018

I believe that young people deserve high quality daily experiences that equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to allow them to go onto the next stage of their journey.

I am married with two children and enjoy netball and running.

I am a working mother of 4 boys, my youngest 2 boys are currently at The Warren, Years 7&8. The eldest who also attended The Warren, is now 21.

Over the years I have seen many changes at the school; since becoming an Academy the school has gone from strength to strength and continues to improve.

I have a close relationship with the school formed over many years and in particular with the SEND department as my son in Year 8 has Autism and I have nothing but thanks for all the hard work and support they show him in a very challenging environment.

I feel I could contribute in moving the school forward and supporting it to become an Outstanding school.

Blake Drewery-Meakin

I started working at The Warren School as Media Resources Manager in January 2015. I have previously worked in 2 other primary schools in the London borough of Newham, 6 years as a special educational needs teaching assistant and 3 years as a resource coordinator. During this time working in schools I have always believed in one thing, ‘no matter what role you have within the school, we are all here for the good of our students’.

I find the school environment such a rewarding place to work in as you build a family of colleagues around you but you also see and help future generations to achieve their goals which brings your own sense of achievement.

Outside of the school I am an extremely family orientated and have hobbies including baking, crafts music and travelling.
